Reverend Linda Cheek serves God as Pastor at Rinn United Methodist Church, bringing the message at the 9:30 Sunday worship service. Lin earned a BS in Organizational Management and Christian Leadership at Colorado Christian University and a Master of Divinity at Iliff School of Theology, graduating with distinction. Part of her pastoral duties includes work within our District, where she serves on the District Committee on Ministry, helping new pastoral candidates discern their call to ministry and enter the ordination process. As she loves helping clergy colleagues, she also volunteers as a mentor for Provisional Candidates across the conference who are getting ready for ordination.
Rev. Lin has served as a pastor at Warren UMC and Brentwood UMC, both in Denver, sole pastor at Good Shepherd UMC in Thornton, and Sr. Pastor at Hope UMC in Greenwood Village. Before going into ministry, Lin was Music Director at Phillips UMC in Lakewood, directing the Chancel Choir, Children’s Choir, various bell choirs and the praise choir.
She is married to Brian Cheek, who works for the State of Colorado as a Fire Marshal and enjoys golfing in his free time. They have two children and four grandchildren. As a cradle Methodist, Lin has long advocated for a more inclusive church, where all people are welcome — and all means all. In her time off, she likes to read, write, and make music, and also solve the Wordle and jigsaw puzzles with her husband.
